Killed in action 2/10/1918 aged 26 and buried in Hooge Crater Cemetery, West Vlaanderen, Belgium.
Born Portsmouth in 1892, son of Frederick and Emily and brother to Frank, Arthur, Alfred, Emily, Elsie, Kathleen and Dorothy. In 1901 the family were living at 66 Duncan Rd, Southsea and his father was working as a general grocer, by 1911 they had moved to 2 Willow Cottages, Auckland Road East, Southsea and he was working as a provisions merchant’s assistant and his father was a grocers assistant. By the time he enlisted in Portsmouth on 10/11/1914 his address was 4 Welch Rd, Southsea, on enlistment he joined the 14th Bn Hampshire Regiment. His name is listed on the memorial at St Jude’s church, Southsea.
