Royal Field Artillery

Killed in action 21/3/1918 aged 22 and buried in Rocquigny-Equancourt Road British Cemetery, Somme, France.

Born in Portsmouth 1896, son of David and Emily, William was an only child. In 1901 they were living at 92 Middle St, Portsmouth, by 1911 he had joined the Royal Field Artillery, his rank was Boy and he was stationed at Fort Purbrook, Cosham. He had joined the war early and was in France by the 19/8/14, so had seen a lot of service by the time of his death. By the end of the war his parents were living in Silvester Rd, Cowplain.
